General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR)
We are very delighted that you have shown interest in our organisation. Data protection is of a particularly high priority for the management of the Wadden Sea Forum e.V.. The use of the Internet pages of the Wadden Sea Forum e.V. is possible without any indication of personal data. As the controller, the Wadden Sea Forum e.V. has implemented numerous technical and organizational measures to ensure the most complete protection of personal data processed through this website. However, Internet-based data transmissions may in principle have security gaps, so absolute protection may not be guaranteed. The use by third parties of all published contact details for the purpose of advertising is expressly excluded. We reserve the right to take legal steps in the case of the unsolicited sending of advertising information; e.g., by means of spam mail.
Name and Address of the controller
Controller for the purposes of the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), other data protection laws applicable in Member states of the European Union and other provisions related to data protection is:
Collection of general data and information
The website of the Wadden Sea Forum e.V. collects a series of general data and information when a data subject or automated system calls up the website. This general data and information are stored in the server log files. Collected may be (1) the browser types and versions used, (2) the operating system used by the accessing system, (3) the website from which an accessing system reaches our website (so-called referrers), (4) the sub-websites, (5) the date and time of access to the Internet site, (6) an Internet protocol address (IP address), (7) the Internet service provider of the accessing system, and (8) any other similar data and information that may be used in the event of attacks on our information technology systems.
(Opinion of our provider Strato) For data protection reasons, the hostname or the IP address of the client calling our website is anonymized in the log files. The format of all other entries does not change. The first 9 bits of the IP address of the entry are converted to a hash value. An anonymized IP address is valid for a maximum of 24 hours. After that, the same source IP address would become another "anonymous" IP address.
There is no merger of this data with other data sources.
To protect the security of your data during transmission, we use state-of-the-art encryption techniques (such as SSL) over HTTPS.
The internet pages partly use so-called cookies. Cookies do not harm your computer and do not contain viruses. Cookies serve to make our offer more user-friendly, effective and secure. Cookies are small text files that are stored on your computer and stored by your browser.
Our used CMS Joomla does not use tracking cookies or similar, but only session cookies, which do not contain any personal data and will be deleted at the end of the session by leaving the page. The EU Data Protection Regulation further states that cookies that have no effect on the privacy of the user may be set without information or consent. This rule applies to the websites that record the number of visitors.
Routine erasure and blocking of personal data
The data controller shall process and store the personal data of the data subject only for the period necessary to achieve the purpose of storage, or as far as this is granted by the European legislator or other legislators in laws or regulations to which the controller is subject to.
If the storage purpose is not applicable, or if a storage period prescribed by the European legislator or another competent legislator expires, the personal data are routinely blocked or erased in accordance with legal requirements.
Rights of the data subject
Each data subject shall have the right granted by the European legislator to obtain from the controller the right
- of confirmation
- of access
- to rectification
- to erasure (Right to be forgotten)
- of restriction of processing
- to data portability
- to object
- of automated individual decision-making, including profiling

Data protection provisions about the application and use of Facebook
When you visit our website, there is no direct connection between your browser and the Facebook server, as we have not installed a plugin to Facebook. If you would like to visit us on Facebook, you can do this separately at "https://www.facebook.com/waddensea-forum".
Use of Script Libraries (Google Webfonts)
In order to render our content correctly and graphically appealing across browsers, we use script libraries and font libraries on this website, such as: Google Webfonts (https://www.google.com/webfonts/). Google web fonts are transferred to the cache of your browser to prevent multiple loading. If the browser does not support Google Web fonts or prohibits access, content will be displayed in a standard font.
The call of script libraries or font libraries automatically triggers a connection to the operator of the library. It is theoretically possible - but currently also unclear whether and if so for what purposes - that operators of such libraries collect data.
